MACRO GOAL: "ATTRACTING NEW INDUSTRIES TO THE ORMOND BEACH AIRPORT"

During a "Strategic Economic Development Plan Workshop" meeting held on October 18, 2012, the recommendations for the "Three-Year Strategic Economic Development Plan" was discussed by the City Commissioners, Mayor and City staff.

Objective 2 of the "Five-Year Strategic Economic Development Plan" and one of the new "macro goals" of the recommended "Three-Year Strategic Economic Development Plan" stated "Attracting new industries to the Ormond Beach Airport."
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT FACILITY INSURES GOAL ACCOMPLISHMENT

Once the proposed facility is constructed, "attracting new industries to the Ormond Beach Airport" will be able to be accomplished because the facilities will exist.  Today, there is minimal chance of that happening without significant infrastructure improvements being made by the City, which to date the City has not done.
MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION TOP 2012 CALENDER YEAR ECONOMIC PRIORITY: NUMBER 5 "DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOUTHWEST QUAD AND RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE"

Subsequently on January 3, 2012, the City Commission of Ormond Beach held a Strategic Planning Workshop which identified the City's top five (5) priorities to be accomplished within the 2012 calendar year.  The number 5 priority was "Development of the Southwest Quad and related infrastructure".  City staff recommended that all five (5) goals be identified as the Commission's Goals for 2012.  On April 17, 2012, the City Commission unanimously approved staff's recommendations.
DEPUTY MAYOR PARTINGTON: "AIRPORT ONE OF OUR MOST POWERFUL ECONOMIC ENGINES..."

During the April 3, 2012 City Commission Meeting, Commissioner Partington stated: "I think the Airport can be one of our most powerful economic engines..."  In response, City Mayor Kelley agreed and stated: "that probably is the key to our future along with Ormond Crossings, that's one of the key ingredients that we have to use for the City....
AIRPORT PROJECT ACCOMPLISHES COMMISSION OBJECTIVES

Arnie B. Green Associates, Inc.'s private development project over a 20-year period will result in a facility when constructed that will have a $114 million dollar impact to the local community, just from construction of the facility alone.  In that period, total employment resulting from construction of the facility and its on-going Fixed Based Operations will exceed 1800 jobs.

The project will undoubtedly accomplish the City Commission's number 5 priority and will result in a projected total economic impact to the City of Ormond Beach of approximately $382 million dollars over the 20-year development period of the project.
